Celebrating the Christian Brothers University— Lasallian Volunteer Connection!

The Brothers at Lambert Hall hosted a Lasallian Volunteer Gathering on Monday, February 12, 2007. The evening included Mass, a Social, Dinner and a Program in which LVs and Alums shared experiences with Christian Brothers University students who are considering the LV program for next year. The evening was coordinated by Bro. Rob Veselsky, Director of Campus Ministry, with Recruiter Seth Whetzel’s visit to meet with CBU students. Dave Kasievich, Director, also joined the festivities. Through the program and informal interactions throughout the evening, Brothers and guests experienced the enthusiasm and mutually beneficial impact of the Lasallian Volunteers.

“When I look back at my decision to join the LV Program I think of St. La Salle’s quote about how his one commitment led to another and if he would have know what his future held he might never have made that first step…I can relate to La Salle.”

- Justin Kuehl (03-05, La Salle Academy, NYC)

Area LV Alums came to share their experience with its significance in their lives today, to thank the Brothers, and to promote the program among current CBU students.

The Program began with prayer and time for prospective LVs to reflect on 1) Attractions to the Program & hopes for the future and 2) Obstacles to joining the program or fears about joining the LV Program. Guests were also asked to think of one question for the panel.

“St. De La Salle used to say that the Brothers’ vocation was to touch hearts. It is evident that you have touched hearts, are touching hearts today, and will touch hearts tomorrow. And that is a major objective of the Lasallian Volunteer Program: to help people learn to touch hearts.”

- Bro. John Johnston (former Superior General)

(L-R) Br. Rob Veselsky, Director of Campus Ministry at CBU with LV Prospective LVs Vance, Mario & Daniel

Special thanks to Bro. Rob Veselsky and to the Brothers for hosting this lively gathering, a special discernment opportunity!
