LVs Hit the Rhode: 2009 Marathon

On Saturday, October 18, 2009, 37 runners “hit the rhode” in Newport, Rhode Island. Fighting high winds, rain and cold, the marathon was a huge success, meeting the goal of $52,000. Thanks to everyone for your support!

In 2008, 76 Lasallian Volunteers, friends and family ran the Philadelphia Marathon and raised over $67,600. This year, we headed to Newport, Rhode Island, with 37 volunteer runners and friends with an ambitious fundraising goal of $51,000!

In response to an ever growing need in the most disadvantaged areas across the country, the Lasallian Volunteers program needs to continue a trend of expansion to fulfill requests for volunteers. The Lasallian Volunteers themselves do what they can to aid in future development. This includes getting the word out about what we do, recruitment and fundraising.

LVs Hit the Rhode ‘09 was the volunteer’s biggest contribution to the growth of the program this year.
