Personal Story
In high school I was impressed by the young Brothers who taught me. I joined the order, going through the novitiate and scholasticate and two years of teaching as a Brother. I left before final vows but felt deeply committed to sharing the Lasallian heritage with my students: that God is present, that each student matters, that God sustains all of us through even the worst problems, that God is calling us to share our blessings especially with those who need them most.
Through my years as a religion teacher and campus minister, sharing this Lasallian legacy with students was a core value to me. The poor of our world need empowerment beyond what money alone can give. The Lasallian heritage ushers them into a life of dignity, faith, and mutual service that is Good News.
That I can participate now on the LV staff, helping Volunteers grow in Faith, Community and Service with the Brothers is an amazing privilege. That I can encourage them as they try to open the doors to impoverished children today is the greatest contribution I can make at this time.
