La Salle Academy is a private Catholic college preparatory high school for young men on the Lower East SideManhattan. The 160 year mission of the Academy was founded upon the Lasallian tradition of the Brothers of the Christian Schools to challenge and nurture young men to grow intellectually, physically, and spiritually. La Salle seeks to educate teenagers of New York City from different cultural, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds with special outreach for those most in need.

La Salle Academy is a high school of approximately 450 students from 60 nations. Less than 150 students can afford the cost of tuition; the rest receive financial aid and support from various aid programs. Over 50% of these adolescents are considered “at-risk” youth. They come from single parent homes whose family income is below the federal poverty level. Despite such hardships, over 95% of the students are accepted into a variety of colleges.
