Lasallian Volunteers serve as tutors and after-school program coordinators. Andy Weingarten, 2nd year LV, and Jackie Young, 2nd year LV, (both are founding staff members and organize support for local children and families by an after school program, mentoring, and home visits.)

Opening in the fall of 2009, the John XXIII Educational Center will offer programming for middle and high school students as well as adults. It is a ministry sponsored by St. Patrick’s church parish which serves a large number of Latino families. The center is an out growth of the former San Juan Diego Middle School, which closed in 2009.

Afternoon and evening programming will offer tutoring, mentoring, homework
help and enrichment activities in a safe environment. Home visitations and in- school assistance will also be part of the program. Graduates of the former SJDMS and other high school students will be the targeted high school population. Future adult offerings will include ESL, GED and Spanish classes.
