LVs Support One Another During LVs Run

The 14th annual LVs Run was held on Saturday, October 26, 2019, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in partnership with the Minneapolis Halloween Half Marathon. Twenty-three Lasallian Volunteers participated in running the 5k, 10k or the half-marathon. Brothers, LV staff, LVs and alumni volunteered at the race.

The celebration began on Friday with a delicious pasta dinner prepared by the DeLaSalle High School Brothers community.

This year’s run was co-chaired by second-year LVs Joseph Rogers and Theresa Havelka. They were joined on the committee by second-year LV Jake Remsing and first-year LVs Jessica Bauer and Max Conrad. The committee worked to prepare for the event, including organizing logistics of the weekend, sharing training schedules, and encouraging fundraising.

Rogers shared, “As an LV serving at DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis, it was really special for me that our cohort had the opportunity to experience a sample of daily life on Nicollet Island by taking part in community meals, visiting our school campus, and spending time in prayer and fellowship. This weekend was a great visual reminder that no matter what community or ministry we visit, our Lasallian tradition is vibrant and present through faith, service, and community.”

The weekend concluded with a taco dinner and the LVs were joined by local Alums, Brothers, family and friends.

“LVs Run provides a chance for current and former LVs to connect and support the program. Personally, it gave me the opportunity to talk to so many other people associated with the LV Program,” Havelka said. “Overall, LVs Run was a fun way to support not just the program but one another.”
