The 2019 Brother Charles Kitson Institute for Formation of Lasallian Volunteers (Kitson Institute for short) will be held July 19 – 27, 2019 at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. New and returning LVs will gather together for this orientation experience and will dig deep into the Lasallian charism, prayer, community life, preparing them for their service work, and more.
Kitson Institute, formerly known as Lasallian Volunteers Orientation, features a redesigned program to meet the needs of today’s volunteers. Named for Brother Charles Kitson, FSC, a transformational leader and lifelong advocate of Lasallian Volunteers, who was a champion of inviting young people to engage in the Lasallian mission and deepen their commitment to a life lived in a way that others may “have life…and have it in abundance.”
Kitson Institute is an intentional formative experience that invites Lasallian Volunteers into a process of understanding, articulating, participating and ultimately providing service and leadership in the values of faith, service and community. Kitson Institute serves as a personal, professional and spiritual formation experience for LVs at the beginning of their year of service.
Laying the groundwork for positive and effective service as Lasallian Volunteers, Kitson Institute invites Young Lasallians to follow Brothers Charles’ example and prophetic witness to begin a journey as “forever Lasallians,” a journey much needed in our world today.
