The 2020 Brother Charles Kitson Institute for Formation of Lasallian Volunteers (Kitson Institute for short) was held July 19 – 26, 2020 as a virtual formation experience.
During our time together, LVs focused on Lasallian pedagogy and spirituality, community building, educational content, virtual learning, building relationships with students and clients, along with other topics, while honoring the best parts of the Kitson Institute experience.
Kitson Institute, formerly known as Lasallian Volunteers Orientation, features a redesigned program to meet the needs of today’s volunteers. Named for Brother Charles Kitson, FSC, a transformational leader and lifelong advocate of Lasallian Volunteers, who was a champion of inviting young people to engage in the Lasallian mission and deepen their commitment to a life lived in a way that others may “have life…and have it in abundance.”
Kitson Institute is an intentional formative experience that invites Lasallian Volunteers into a process of understanding, articulating, participating and ultimately providing service and leadership in the values of faith, service and community. Kitson Institute serves as a personal, professional and spiritual formation experience for LVs at the beginning of their year of service.
Laying the groundwork for positive and effective service as Lasallian Volunteers, Kitson Institute invites Young Lasallians to follow Brothers Charles’ example and prophetic witness to begin a journey as “forever Lasallians,” a journey much needed in our world today.
